My thought on Evo-Devo
Once we realize that evolution is not like a ladder (lower to higher) but a tree we would understand that there is no reason to assume humans are the final product of evolution. Since we are not the highest species, evolution will not stop working because we are here.
How does Darwinism matter to me?
I think Darwinism brings forward, among other things, the fundamental issues of morality and law. Once we start to explain human behaviors in terms of Darwinism as opposed to religion we lose any grounding for morality and law. The core of the issue however is really about our mistaken common sense view of the world that is called realism. Darwinism, as interpreted by most people, assumes this mistaken world view. This is one issue that I am very interested in and have outlined my ideas in my presentation for this class.
